In Ayurveda, OCD is related with the Atatva Abhinivesha. Atatva Abhinivesha is mainly caused due to vata dosha imbalance. Vata dosha gets aggravated due to intake of polluted food and beverages, suppression of natural urges, excess intake of cold and warm unctuous and dry eatables irrespective of combinations and fearful situations. In individuals with poor mental ability, vitiated vata dosha combines with the raja and tama dosha and thereafter resides in the hridya vitiating mana and buddhi. As a result the mind gets weakened and the person loses the ability to recognize good and bad, wholesome and unwholesome, truth and myth.
