Sinusitis is defined as a common condition in which the lining of the sinuses becomes inflamed. It is usually caused by a viral infection. It may be caused by anything that interferes with airflow into the sinuses and drainage of mucus out of the sinuses. The sinus has small openings, called Ostia, may be obstructed by swelling of the tissue lining of the Ostia and adjacent nasal passage tissues, for example, from cold, allergies and tissue irritants (nasal sprays, cocaine, and cigarette smoke), etc. The early symptoms of sinusitis include runny or stuffy nose, postnasal drip, earache, fever, bad breath, fatigue, headache, etc.
