It is an essential nutrient required by the body, although it is needed in small amounts. Iodine deficiency in the body can lead to many different diseases such as cretinism, hypothyroid and goiter. Also, iodine deficiency can also cause the body to become more susceptible to infection. Iodine is a strong antiseptic and antibiotic and can be used to treat both internal and external infections. The best thing is that there are many popular foods that are rich in iodine and you can easily include them in your daily diet. Although iodine is not required in large amounts like other micronutrients in the body, it is definitely required for proper functioning of the body and especially the thyroid gland. That is why you should consume iodine as much as possible.
Iodine
Iodine was first discovered by French chemist Bernard Corto, who first burned seaweed in 1811 and washed the ashes with water. The waste left over when treated with sulfuric acid produces dark purple crystals of iodine. In 1814 iodine was identified as a new element by the English chemist Sir Humphrey and he named it after the Greek word Ioedes which means purple. The abundant natural source of iodine is salt water or sea water, in which iodine is present as a negatively charged ion. Since it is present in high concentrations in saltwater, it is also an essential nutrient for most life forms, including human life. Iodine is a rare element and hence iodine deficiency is quite common in humans and other land animals.
Nutritional value of iodine
The most important nutritional role of iodine in the human body is in the synthesis of the hormones triiodothyronine and thyroxine secreted by the thyroid gland. The thyroid gland absorbs iodine directly from the blood, so the thyroid gland has a higher concentration of this element than anywhere else in the human body. Pure iodine cannot be consumed because it is highly reactive. This is why it is available as a supplement in compound form. Iodide salts such as potassium iodide and sodium iodide are particularly used for this purpose because they are highly soluble in water.
Health Benefits of Iodine
The following are the best health benefits of apple
Regulate metabolism
Iodine helps in the production of hormones that regulate the metabolism of the body and hence it can be said that it can make or break the metabolism of the body. Iodine helps in absorbing food in the body and converting food into energy. Calories in the body burn and lose weight, otherwise they accumulate in the body in the form of excess fat which leads to weight gain. Due to this process you can remain active and energetic throughout the day and sleep peacefully at night. So it can be said that iodine helps in reducing insomnia and depression.
Thyroid gland support
Hormones such as thyroxine and triiodothyronine are produced by the thyroid gland with the help of iodine and these hormones are essential for many life sustaining systems. Iodine deficiency causes the thyroid gland to increase in size, causing diseases such as goiter, hypothyroidism, and cretinism. Iodine deficiency causes the thyroid gland to function abnormally, causing many problems such as hair loss, memory impairment, and allergies.
Reproductive system support
Iodine helps the reproductive organs to grow and mature naturally. At the same time, iodine also helps in easy pregnancy and protects the unborn child from neurological problems. In fact, iodine is the deciding factor in the mental and physical health of the unborn child. This is the reason why doctors recommend pregnant women to take iodine supplements as they have to consume it for themselves as well as for the unborn child.
Strengthens the immune system
Viruses and bacteria cannot thrive in an environment rich in iodine. This is why iodine protects the body from various diseases. It activates antioxidants and therefore forms a strong defense mechanism which in turn protects against serious diseases such as cancer and heart disease.
May help treat fibrocystic diseases
Fibrocystic disease is a condition in which the lumps in the breast grow and iodine can help treat the condition. It reduces the symptoms of fibrosis and prevents the disease and pain associated with it. This is why iodine is used extensively in the treatment of fibrosis nowadays. In stability and functionality iodine is helpful in producing estrogen which is essential for the health of the breasts and eliminates lumps formation ulcers in the breast.
Maintain cognitive ability
Iodine in the body helps in thinking and conceiving correctly. If you notice a drop in your brain activity, you should immediately check for iodine levels. Studies have shown that people suffering from such conditions show improvement immediately after iodine intake. Productivity increases in adults and it develops cognitive ability in children.
Regulates many hormones
Iodine helps in proper functioning of the thyroid gland which produces many hormones in the body. Therefore we can say that iodine plays an important role in the functioning of this gland. This in turn keeps hormones at the appropriate level and prevents their fluctuating levels. Hormones control many processes in the body and iodine enables them to function well.
Radiation prevention
Iodine protects the thyroid gland from absorbing radiation from radioactive elements. This in turn protects the gland from any injury caused by radiation. This property of iodine is particularly useful for those working in places where there is a risk of radiation leaks in radiology laboratories in nuclear power plants or even hospitals. At the same time, iodine is also used to treat patients who are undergoing radiation treatment.
Fights pathogens
Iodine is a better method for treating diseases caused by pathogens. Oral antibiotics kill both good and bad bacteria thus depriving the body of healthy bacteria and leaving unnecessary residue in the body. On the other hand, iodine has the same effect as antibiotics but does not harm good bacteria.
Cancer prevention
Iodine helps in the shrinking and death of cancer cells. A process called apoptosis is a process in which systemic cell death occurs in multicellular organisms. Iodine inhibits and kills cells that grow continuously and kills the body. This is why iodine plays an important role in preventing breast, thyroid, gastric and prostate cancer.
Keep nails strong
Iodine strengthens brittle and weak nails. It also improves the overall condition of the nails and prevents them from infection. Eating a well-balanced diet is essential so that you ensure that you are consuming the right amount of iodine which will maintain the health of your nails and ensure hard, clear and chip-proof nails.
Uses of iodine
Iodine is often used as a sterilizing agent. Most of the products used for sterilization products for the body contain iodine. It is an excellent wound cleaner and can be used to purify water. It is also used in a number of eye drops as it is known to provide protection against UVB radiation.
Iodine Side Effects & Allergies
The good news is that there are many popular foods rich in iodine that you can include in your diet to ensure that you are consuming enough iodine. The ocean is the single largest source of iodized foods such as kelp, arme, hijiki, kombu and wakame. It is a good idea to sprinkle these in a soup or salad. Cranberry is not only rich in antioxidants, but also in iodine. It is recommended that you buy fresh organic berries or juices. Organic yogurt is another rich source of iodine because one serving of yogurt supplies half of your daily iodine needs. Apart from yogurt there are many probiotic foods which are also rich in iodine and you should include them in your daily diet. Organic navy beans are quite rich in iodine and only ½ a cup contains about 32 / mcg iodine. Apart from their high iodine content, Navy beans are also high in fiber making them an excellent food. Organic strawberries contain about 10 percent of your daily requirement of iodine. A cup of fresh strawberries contains about 13 / mcg iodine.

VITAMIN D

70 to 90 percent of people in India are deficient in Vitamin D (Vitamin D). This figure is certainly shocking. But it is wise to not only identify the problem but also start working towards dealing with it and solving it. Answer all you’re big and big questions about vitamin D, come, and let us give you this article today. Before we fully implement the information that we are going to give you, you should seek medical advice as much as possible. Because, the lack, need and related capabilities of each person are different.
What is Vitamin D after all?
According to the report published in the BBC, even though the name of vitamin D is ‘vitamin’, it is not a vitamin but a hormone. Now let us also tell you that Vitamin D is of two types. The deficiency we are talking about is Vitamin D3. Apart from this, there is vitamin D2 but the body cannot digest it. One such hormone that helps the body to digest calcium is Vitamin D3. When the sun’s rays fall on our body, then the ultraviolet-B rays of the sun fall on our body, then our body makes vitamin D from the cholesterol contained within. According to a recently published report, by the year 2050, half of all hip fractures in the world will occur in Asia.
Why Vitamin D is so important?
- Now even if it does not directly fall under the category of vitamins, but consider it as a type of warrior that is claimed that vitamin D increases the strength to fight our diseases. We do not need to explain how much such a warrior would be needed to cure the disease in case of disease. Overall, it increases immunity of the body.
- Correctly regulates the co-ordination of nerves i.e. the nervous system and muscles. Strengthens not only bones but also muscles and ligaments.
According to a BBC report, a research conducted in London found that vitamin D protects against infections in our windpipe.
- It regulates the amount of protein in our body cells. At the same time, due to vitamin D, the number of calcium in the intestines also remains in proper quantity, which reduces the risk of intestinal cancer.
- Research on several types of cancer, such as liver cancer, breast cancer, prostate cancer, shows that vitamin D prevents cancer cells from growing.
Helpful in mental diseases such as depression?
Experts believe that vitamin D helps fight mental diseases. Actually we get a pigment serotonin from sunlight. This pigment is related to our mood. At the same time, we also get vitamin D from the pigment melatonin. In such a situation, if there is a deficiency of both these pigments, then it increases the risk of mental diseases like depression.
How to get vitamin D3
- From the sun. Yes, you get the most and best vitamin D3 from sunlight. However, apart from this, it is also found from animal fat such as fish oil, liver, egg yolk, milk products etc.
- Different opinions are often heard on the right time and method of sunbathing. Actually, there is no need for more confusion in this regard. Think of it this way – if your shadow is becoming smaller than your height in the sun, then sunlight is more beneficial.
- Sunlight directly on the skin. That is, whenever going to soak in the sun, try that the face, neck, shoulders, chest, back are open. From here sunlight will enter the body. Significantly, vitmin D can be produced with the help of sunlight filtering from glass.
- If you can sunbathe from 10 am to 3 pm, do so. For a one-day vitamin dose, you have to sunbathe for 45 minutes. If you sit for longer than that, it is not that you will absorb more vitamins. According to the report of Navbharat Times, some amount of vitamin is formed when sitting less than this, but the body will not be able to digest it and it will be wasted.
Diseases are caused by vitamin D deficiency, diseases occur due to vitamin D deficiency
Symptoms of vitamin d deficiency
Its symptoms resemble normal lifestyle diseases at first sight. But if these are persistent or if there are any problems in the lifestyle due to the following symptoms, then you should see a doctor immediately. He will get the test done and find out if these symptoms are really vitamin D deficiency.
- Persistent body pain
- Excess fatigue and lethargy throughout the day
- Joint pain that is not taking the name of recovery
- Frequent pain in the axes and knees and persisting in the back
Vitamin D deficiency
- Osteopenia is a disease which means that there is a deficiency of protein in your bones.
- Number of infertility also arises
- Periods irregular
- There may be a disease called osteoporosis in which the bone density (bone density) decreases and they break easily.
- Vitamin D deficiency cases are more in women. This is because women go through periods (mahvari) per month. Also, this decrease is seen after pregnancy.
If there is deficiency then what is the treatment?
If there is no sunlight or if there is too much deficiency, then vitamin D is transported in the body by oral or injection method. Efforts are made to fill the gap through injection, tablet. It has been observed that if the deficiency is too much, then injections are given and regular medication is administered later. Individuals get specialized medical advice about medicine and methods of treatment only when they are implemented. Till then, eat incense, be happy.

Amino acids are organic compounds made up of nitrogen , hydrogen , carbon and oxygen along with a variable side chain group . Some of the essential amino acids of our body are methionine , threonine ,lysin , isoleucine ,histidine , leucine , tryptophan etc .
Types of amino acids :- There are two type of amino acids which are
1 Essential Amino Acid :- They can’t be made by your body and need other sources to fulfill their need in the body . Sources of essential amino acid are E.g. Meat , Egg , Poultry etc .
2 Non Essential Amino Acid :- These type of amino acid can be made by the body itself and there are no need to take them from outside sources .
IMPORTANCE OF VARIOUS AMINO ACIDS :-
1 Valine :- It is a three branched chain amino acid meaning it has a chain branching off to one side of its molecular structure . It help stimulate muscle growth and regeneration and involve in energy production .
2 Phenylalanine :- It is a precursor for the neurotransmitters tyrosine , epinephrine , dopamine , norepinephrine and epinephrine . It play an important role in structural and functional properties of proteins and enzymes and the production of other amino acid .
3 Threonine :- It is a principal part of structural proteins such as collagen and elastin , which are important components of skin and connective tissue . It play important role in fat metabolism and immune functions .
4 Tryptophan :- Though often associated with causing drowsiness , tryptophan has many other functions . It is needed to maintain proper nitrogen balance and is a precursor to serotonin , a neurotransmitter that regulates your appetite , aleep and mood .
5 Methionine :- It plays an important role in metabolism and detoxification . It is also necessary for tissue growth and absorption of zinc , minerals and selenium that are vital to your health .
6 Isoleucine :- These are three branched chain amino acids which help in muscle metabolism and is heavily concentrated in muscle tissue . It is very useful for hemoglobin , immune function and energy regulation .
7 Leucine :- It is also a branched chain amino acid that is critical for protein synthesis and muscle repair . It also help regulate blood sugar level , produce growth hormones and stimulates wound healing .
8 Lysine :- It plays a major roles in protein synthesis , enzyme production , hormone and absorption of calcium . It also help in energy production , immune function and the production of collagen and elastin.
9 Histidine :- It is used to produce histamine , a neurotransmitter that is used to immune response , sleep wake cycles , sexual function and digestion . It is critical for maintaining the myelin sheath a protective barrier that surrounds your nerve cells .
OTHER BENIFITS OF AMINO ACIDS ARE :-
1 Help to improve Mood and Sleep :- Serotonin is an essential regulator of sleep , mood and behaviors . While low serotonin level have been linked to depressed mood , sleep disturbances etc
2 Boost Exercise Performance :- The three branched chain essential amino acids are widely used to alleviate fatigue , improve athletic performance and stimulate muscle recovery after excercise .
3 Can Prevent Muscle Loss :- Muscle loss is a common side effect of prolonged illness and bed rest especially in older adults .Essential amino acids have been found to prevent muscle breakdown and preserve lean body mass.
4 Can Promote Weight Loss :- Some studies reveal that amino acids may effective in stimulating fat loss
