INTRODUCTION
· SYPHILIS is a sexually transmitted infection caused by the bacterium Treponema pallidum.
· Syphilis is transmitted during oral , vaginal and anal sex
· Syphilis can spared during pregnancy may lead to stillbirth , newborn death.
Syphilis Stages
There are 4 stages of syphilis
1. Primary syphilis : This stage typically begins with a single , painless sore (chancre) at the site of infection which is usually in genitals , anus or mouth . the sore heals after a few weeks.
2. Secondary syphilis : This stage is characterized by a skin rash that can appear as rough, red or reddish-brown spots both on the palms of the hands and the soles of the feet.
Symptoms include fever , fatigue , wart-like sores , headaches , weight loss .
3. Latent syphilis : In this stage the infection is still present in the body can damage your heart , bones , nerves and organs.
4. Tertiary syphilis : This stage can occur years after the initial infection and can lead to serious health problems such as heart disease , blindness , seizures and damage to the nervous system , brain or other organs.
CAUSES
Syphilis is caused by the bacterium Treponema pallidum . this bacteria cause infection when it enter through broken skin or mucus membranes
Complications
1. Syphilitic meningitis
2. Cardiovascular problems
3. Syphilitic myelopathy – a complication that involves muscle weakness and abnormal sensations
4. Hearing impairment
5. HIV infection
AYURVEDA MANAGEMENT FOR SYPHILIS
· According to Ayurveda syphilis is correlate by “Firanga Rog”.
· Syphilis is due to the vitiation of three Doshas (vata , pitta and kapha) . Kapha dosha is mainly effect during chronic stages of diseases.
Herbs for syphilis
1. Neem (azadirachta indica)
Neem is known for its antimicrobial properties which helps to manage syphilis as it can inhibit growth of bacteria.
2. Haridra
Curcumin is the active compound in haridra with antibacterial and anti- inflammatory properties.
